If the code on your Vidmar key starts with A, Stanley Black & Decker no longer makes keys for it. Nobody can cut you a copy. The replacement is a new lock cylinder that drops into any Vidmar cabinet, plus as many keys as you want cut to it, and you can order both here without sending us a photo.
Shop/Keys & Locks/A series keys
Every Vidmar key and lock cylinder carries a code, stamped on the bow of the key and on the face of the cylinder: a letter and a number. If yours starts with A (A34, A49, A52 and so on), that series has been discontinued by Stanley Black & Decker, the maker of Vidmar. They have no A series keys for sale and will not cut new ones to any A code, so neither can we or any other dealer.
The fix is a new CYLSL lock cylinder, which Stanley Black & Decker confirms retrofits into any existing Vidmar cabinet, plus extra KEY1 keys cut to it. The cylinder ships with one key, so decide how many keys you want in total and add the rest on the card below. Nothing else is needed from you: no photo, no code, no email.

Standard SL10 cylinder. Retrofits any Vidmar cabinet, including cabinets on A series keys. Ships with one key; extra keys are cut to this cylinder at the factory and ship with it. Freight included to the contiguous 48.
Keyed Different is right for one cabinet. Doing several at once and want one key for all of them? Pick Keyed Alike on each and add a note at checkout that they ship on one code.
Turn the key over and read the stamp on the bow (the flat part you hold), or look at the face of the lock cylinder on the cabinet.
We asked Vidmar customer service in September 2026 which key numbers are still serviced after a run of A49 and A52 requests. Their answer, in short:
That is the whole policy. There is no A series key waiting list and no special-order path.
| Keys you want in total | What to order | Delivered price |
|---|---|---|
| 1 key | 1 CYLSL cylinder | $106.50 |
| 2 keys | 1 CYLSL + 1 extra key | $131.25 |
| 3 keys | 1 CYLSL + 2 extra keys | $156.00 |
| 4 keys | 1 CYLSL + 3 extra keys | $180.75 |
| 6 keys | 1 CYLSL + 5 extra keys | $230.25 |
Freight is included to the contiguous 48. Sales tax is calculated at checkout by ship-to address.
If a whole bank of cabinets is on A codes, treat it as a rekey rather than a one-off. Swap every cabinet in the bank to a keyed-alike CYLSL cylinder on one new shared code, order the keys with them, and from then on new cabinets can be factory-keyed to match. If the bank was master keyed, the A series master key (KEY2-SEA) is still available as a quote item and buys time, but it does not help cabinets that were keyed individually. Send us the cabinet count and we will quote the cylinders, keys, and a swap plan. How the three Vidmar keying systems work is on the Keys & Locks page.
Lista cabinets use their own lock cores and keys, and this change does not apply to them. Our sister brand Delta Industrial Storage handles Lista keys and lock cores at deltaindustrialstorage.com/keys-locks.
No. Stanley Black & Decker, which makes Vidmar, has discontinued the A series and has none for sale. Individual keys are not available for any A code (A1, A2, A34, A49, A52 and so on), so no dealer can order one for you. The replacement is a CYLSL lock cylinder plus extra KEY1 keys cut to it.
Look at the code stamped on the bow of the key or on the face of the lock cylinder. A series codes are the letter A followed by a number, like A34, A49 or A52. Current Vidmar keys carry a V code, like V001 or V002, and those can still be cut.
A CYLSL replacement lock cylinder ($106.50, ships with one key) plus any extra keys you want ($24.75 each, cut to the new cylinder at the factory). Four keys in total is one cylinder plus three extra keys, $180.75 delivered. Order both on this page or on the Keys & Locks page.
Yes. Stanley Black & Decker confirms the current CYLSL cylinder and KEY1 key retrofit into any existing Vidmar cabinet, including older cabinets that shipped with A series keys.
A local locksmith can open a Vidmar cabinet without damaging it. Once it is open, swap in a CYLSL cylinder and the cabinet is back in service on a code you control. Order the cylinder and keys first so they are on hand when the locksmith comes.
Only if you still have a working key and the locksmith can source the blank; we cannot supply A series blanks or cut A series keys. If you have no working key at all, the cylinder swap is the only route.
No, new cylinders are pinned to current V series codes, not to A codes. To keep one key for the bank, swap every cabinet in it to a new keyed-alike CYLSL cylinder on one shared code and order the keys with them; new cabinets can then be factory-keyed to that code. Tell us the cabinet count and we will quote the swap.
Yes. Stanley Black & Decker still offers the A series master key, part number KEY2-SEA, for cabinets that were originally master keyed. It is a quote item; quantities of five or more run 8 to 10 weeks. It does not help a cabinet that was keyed individually, and it cannot be cut to a specific A code.
