How Vidmar keying works

Random Group (RG), every cabinet has its own unique key from a large keyspace. Best for individually-owned cabinets across many users.
Keyed Alike (KA), a bank of cabinets shares one key. Best for a single operator who owns the whole row.
Master Keyed (MA), each cabinet has its own key, plus one master opens them all. Best for tool cribs and supervised areas.

Cylinders, keys, and master keys: what's what

Every Vidmar drawer cabinet ships with a removable lock cylinder in one of three keying configurations, Random Group, Keyed Alike, or Master Keyed (the same Keying option you pick on our cabinet pages). This page carries the replacement parts for all of them.

Replacement lock cylinder (CYLSL). The standard cylinder for Vidmar drawer cabinets and mobile workcenters. Ordered keyed-different, keyed-alike to your existing bank, or pinned into your master system, tell us the keying and lock code with your request.
Shelf-door cylinders (CYLSDL1 / CYLSDLLH / CYLSDLRH). Shelf-door and sliding-door cabinets use their own cylinder hardware: a threaded cylinder for most doors, plus dedicated left-hand and right-hand cylinders for hinged shelf-door cabinets like the SD340 line. Match the cylinder to the door hand, single-door cabinets come right- or left-hinged.
Cut key (KEY1). A spare or replacement key cut to the code of your existing lock. Order by the code stamped on the key or cylinder face.
Master key (KEY2). The override key for a Master Keyed group. Order spares before you need them, masters are cut at the factory on the standard Vidmar lead time.
